The summer brings out many wonderful things, such as outdoor fun, family vacations and many hours of daylight. The season does have some downsides, though, in the form of dermatological difficulties.
From diagnosis to treatment of your skin issues, the office of Angelic Medi Spa is here for you every step of the way. We give all of our patients as much time as they need to understand their treatment options.
Take heed of these possibilities.
Plant rashes.Allergic reactions triggered by contact with the oils on poison ivy, oak and sumac leaves are not pleasant. Find out what these plants look like, and wear protective clothing and gloves when you’re in an area where they may be lurking.
Foot foibles. Sandals and flip-flops invite cuts, puncture wounds and bug bites. When you’re in the great outdoors, closed-toes shoes will bless your soles and the rest of your foot.
Swimmer’s itch. Not to gross you out, but oceans, lakes and ponds can contain parasites that burrow under your skin and give you a rash. After a swim, vigorously rub your skin with a towel to shed the little critters.
Folliculitis. Hot tubs, pools, snug clothes, and harm due to waxing and shaving can irritate hair follicles. If the follicles become infected, pain, itchiness and irritation can follow. Foil folliculitis by using shaving gel, shaving in the direction that your hair grows, wearing airy clothes, and steering clear of pools and hot tubs that may not be sanitary.
Melasma. The summer sun isn’t your friend if you’re susceptible to these brown patches on your face. Go undercover as much as possible using a hat, sunglasses and SPF 30 sunscreen that you reapply every two hours.
Repellant insects. Ticks, chiggers and mosquitoes love warm weather. Their bites and stings leave most people with an itchy bump. Other people, though, can have serious reactions, such as lowered blood pressure, breathing problems, swelling and a rapid heartbeat. Not fun! Keep the troublemakers away with bug spray, and cover-up clothing and shoes.
The office of Angelic Medi Spa is passionate about treating all aspects of your skin health. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for an appointment. We look forward to serving you!
